Buenos Aires, Argentina - Argentina defeated Costa Rica 3-1 in an international friendly match played at the Estadio Monumental Antonio Vespucio Liberti on March 26, 2024. The match was played in front of a sold-out crowd and was a warm-up for both teams ahead of the 2024 Copa America.
First Half

Argentina regained the lead in the 35th minute through a goal from Lautaro Martinez. The Inter Milan striker scored with a close-range finish after being set up by Messi.
Second Half
Argentina continued to dominate the match in the second half and scored a third goal in the 65th minute through a goal from Paulo Dybala. The Juventus forward scored with a curling shot from outside the area.
Costa Rica had a chance to reduce the deficit in the 75th minute, but Bryan Ruiz missed a penalty.
Argentina held on to their lead to secure a 3-1 victory.
Post-Match Reaction
Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni was happy with his team's performance.
"We played very well today," Scaloni said. "We controlled the match from start to finish and created a lot of chances. We could have scored more goals, but I'm happy with the result." Costa Rica coach Luis Fernando Suarez was disappointed with his team's performance.
"We didn't play well today," Suarez said. "We made too many mistakes and didn't create enough chances. We need to improve if we want to be successful in the Copa America."
