Beijing, China - August 9, 2024 - A massive explosion occurred at China's Ningbo-Zhoushan Port, reportedly on a container ship carrying hazardous goods.

According to eyewitness accounts, the blast triggered a large fireball and sent smoke billowing high into the air. The explosion occurred around 13:45 local time on a transit hazardous materials container ship named YM Mobility, operated by Taiwanese shipping company Yang Ming Marine Transport Corp.

The explosion has forced the closure of several key terminals at the port, one of the world's busiest. The extent of damage and casualties is currently unknown, with authorities responding to the incident.

The Ningbo-Zhoushan Port is China's largest container port and a major international shipping hub. The explosion is expected to cause significant disruptions to global trade.
